We had our 2008 reunion at the Ramada Inn in Branson, Mo October 8 thru 11. Although our numbers were small this year It was a great time and great shows. Thanks to Ken and Judy Bazar for doing a good job seeing all went smooth. Those attending were: Ken & judy Bazar;  George & Donna DeLozier; Bea DeCristoferi; Jerry & Mary Hudson; Larry & Phylis Puckett; Jerry, Judy & Lena Puckett; Charles "Okie" & Jean Snedegar; Frank & Mela Stamos and Henry &  Ida Watson. This was Watson's first reunion and we are glad to have them aboard.
At our business meeting we discussed how to attract more people to our reunions. The USS Marsh (Our sister ship in Korea)  has shown interest  in having our reunions together. This would help us negotiate a better deal with the hotels. Ken suggested we have our 2010 reunion in the Long Beach area as most Viet Nam Veterans and training personal were from that area. We decided to wait until our 2009 reunion to vote on this and our location. Ken said he thought it would be a good idea to have a Historian and everyone agreed. George DeLozier was elected as the Historian. This, as I see it would consist of the reunion history and anything of interest about the ship. If you have anything you would like included please send to George. I know I will need help on some of the reunions.
The shows we saw included: Baldknobers; The Presleys; Shoji, Yakov; The Titanic; The Sons of the Pioneers, and The Shepard of the Hills. Every show paid tribute to our military.
The Ramada is an outstanding place to have a reunion. We had a separate building just accross from our rooms for our Hospitality Room. It had a kitchen with sink and refrig & plenty of cabinet space. Tables and chairs were set up in rest of the building. It had a deck (as the weather was nice it was used a lot) and a barbque grill. We had a picnic one day, cooking hamburgers on the grill. Thanks Ken. Everyone at the Ramada went out of their way to see our stay was enjoyable. A special thanks to Veronica and our banquet hosts Pam & Jim. Also to the other people that worked there.
